Anaemia


a.    
The term anaemia refers to a deficiency in the number of circulating red blood cells available for oxygen transport. It is a blood disease in which haemoglobin(Hb) level is below non level.
Classification
The aetiologic classifications of anaemia are as follows
i.                    Deceased erythrocyte production
ii.                  Secondary to blood loss
iii.                Increased erythrocytes destruction (haemolysis)
The morphological classifications of anaemia are follows
i.                    Normocytic , normochromic
ii.                  Macrocytic, normochromic
iii.                Microcytic, hypochromic 

Clinical Manifestation
1.      Palpitations, dyspnoea, diaphoresis, tachycardia
2.      Skin, pallor, jaundice, pruritus, blurred vision, mouth glossitis
3.      Headache, depression, anorexia, hepatomegaly, bone pain, weight loss

Management
1.      Plan of exercising care, health education 
2.      Dietary and life style change
3.      Blood transfusion, drug therapy, oxygen therapy
