Pernicious Anemia


Pernicious Anemia = is a decrease in red blood cells that occurs when the body cannot properly absorb vitamin B12 from the gastrointestinal tract.
Clinical Features
·         Fatigue , pallor , shortness of breath, anorexia, bleeding gums
·         Jaundice, numbness in fingers or toes, diarrhea
Dietary Mangement of Pernicious Anemia
·         Take diet that contains vitamin B12
·         Vitamin B12 is found in significant amounts only in animal protein foods—meat and poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy products.
